@unsliced @virginmedia One strand of fibre cable can transfer a lot of data. When they talk about a cable it’s going to have multiple strands so it can carry even more. It sucks that it’s down, but repairing fibre is not trivial.

@virginmedia Put something online or phone message when we call also despite being out since yesterday morning only been able to register issue this morning. Not great service really so likely to cancel my contract in new year despite over 15 years as a customer just too much poor service

@unsliced @virginmedia This does utterly suck though, I’m a business customer and rely on the internet during working hours, I have no internet, no link to the office etc. Funnily enough I just lent my redundancy 4G router to my daughter and then this happens!

@unsliced @virginmedia Sure, but no internet provider has a completely dual redundant system, if they did we’d never see any outages. You can mitigate certain issues with redundancy, but “cut the cord” in the wrong place and you’ll have an issue.

@virginmedia In my humble view the customer call centres, specifically abroad need more training...I've been on the phone 3 times to amend packages & in truth not many are up to speed when the change occurs As a customer of over 11+ years it's been a poor experience

@virginmedia please improve how you treat your customers! Broadband + TV down in NW1 since last Thursday with no text updates, no online status and the only way I find out the latest is a 30 min call. This follows a previous 2 week outage in November where I was not compensated.

@virginmedia Hi John @virginmedia the fault has been with us for 6 weeks or more. The engineer explained to me what needed to happen in order to rectify it. I don’t understand why it is taking so long, nothing is so complex that it takes this long to fix. By the 26th Feb it will be 8 weeks
