Wolf of X (@WolfofX) reportedIn 2003, Stan Beaton lost his wife, Ruby, to stomach cancer. Before she passed away, she had recorded the voicemail greeting for their home telephone. It was an ordinary message to anyone else, but to Stan it became the last recording of her voice. For more than a decade, he kept that voicemail safe. He even stayed with the same phone company because he feared changing providers might erase it. Whenever he missed Ruby, he would call his own home just to hear her say, "Sorry, at the moment, Stan and Ruby are not available..." For him, those few seconds were enough to bring her close again. Then, in December 2014, a network upgrade accidentally deleted the recording. Stan was heartbroken. He later said it felt like losing his wife all over again. Believing there was nothing left to lose, he contacted Virgin Media and asked if there was any way to recover it. What followed was something no one expected. Eleven telecommunications engineers spent three days searching through backup systems for a single deleted audio file. They described it as looking for a needle in a haystack, but they refused to give up. They found it. Instead of simply returning the recording, BBC Radio Leeds arranged a surprise during an interview with Stan. As Ruby's familiar voice filled the room once again, he broke down in tears. "That's her. Wonderful. Wonderful." The company later gave Stan permanent copies of the recording on a CD so he would never have to fear losing it again. It wasn't just a recovered voicemail. It was the return of the last words he could still hear from the woman he loved, a voice that had waited silently for years until someone cared enough to bring it back.

Daisy ****** (@daisylou1972) reported@trapdoor456 @virginmedia Yes, we’ve got it and I’ve found it way faster, and more reliable than Sky. Haven’t had to go through customer services yet, so can’t comment on that. 12 months in and not even had to reset the router.
-
RK8 (@Rahul_Kotecha) reported@virginmedia on chat with you for nearly two hours and have still not got seen what your "best price" is. Shocking customer service
-
Adam Spooner (@aspoone2) reported@virginmedia what an awful service New customer and already regretting it Along pops engineer 1 on 22nd to install the service Oh can't do that mate, we need to call out the street team, they will be there Wednesday
-
matt (@sirtrevsheader) reportedI was told I would get £40 credit on my account for poor service but it had not been taken away from my bill, instead ypu have stated that I owe £40 from last month instead. Lying again. @virginmedia
-
Robby Yung ⦿⦿⦿ (@viewfromhk) reported@0xsachi I think "moat" is just a polite way of saying monopoly. First mover advantage builds a brand and customer stickiness, and I think this should be the goal, personally. But all these anti-competitive practices like making cancelling services ridiculously hard (hello @virginmedia ) or walling the garden once you get enough users (hello @facebook Open Graph) should be cracked down on, in my opinion.
-
Alan Roberts (@AlanRob68902430) reported@virginmedia Anyone reading this I'm now being threatened with charges for not returning there router, anyone else get conned into an @O2 contract sim by virgin media fancy starting a class action via the ombudsman @O2 I've never made a single call or text yet you have debited my bank for the last 2 years

Mikey Molfessis (@mikey_mol) reported@virginmedia You close a call and open a new one without resolution. That’s how you avoid @Ofcom ratings
